Two fine watches caught my eye in the upcoming HK sale of Antiquorum Swiss this coming Saturday (27th of October):
Lot 228: A 1933 Reverso Le Coultre
Early Reverso`s in appealing condition do not come to the market often. When they do I pay attention.
A super early Reverso from 1933 (the first Reverso came out in 1931) with a Le Coultre signature is being sold by Antiquorum. I wrote about a similar watch that was part of PAK series last year. Early Reverso are beautiful and sought after watches due to their simplicity and rarity for those which survive in acceptable condition. What makes this watch stand out is the beautiful brown dial and the playful Le Coultre signature. Jaeger often used the ‘Le Coultre‘ name for the American market.
After checking with the heritage department of Jaeger, the movement number corresponds with the date of sale of 1933. While I cannot guarantee that the hands are original at least the form corresponds to the form normally seen with some early Reverso watches. In any case the buyer will get an extract of archives from Jaeger Le Coultre for this watch.
Estimate is $10-15k, which is high, but correct for an early Reverso.
I love the movement they put in square watches.
Notice the movement signed in the same way as the dial. Simply ‘Le Coultre’.

Lot 362: A 1968 Patek Ref 3435
Every man needs an elegant evening watch, much like he needs at least one nice suit.
This Ref 3435 would be my choice for New Years eve in Gstaad. A fine and very rare Platinum watch with diamond dial – ref 3435 does not come to the market often.
An interesting fact: This very watch sold at Christies in 2016 (for CHF 35’000) and I recommended it already back then. What makes this watch so attractive is not only the rarity but also the movement and case design. Case is so called ‘step case‘ made by celebrated case maker Baumgartner. The movement is the real jewel in this watch and is the wonderful 27-460 (with gold rotor) with Gyromax balance wheel. These automatic movements are a real treasure and among the most beautiful ever made.
Estimate of this watch is CHF 26-36’000.

Perhaps the best reason why you should own this Patek is the movement. Gold rotor and Gyromax balance wheel included.
